ZSI actively involved the Horizon 2020 Policy Support Facility peer reviewing Ukraine

Under the chairmanship of Hans Chang, former Director General of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Science, a selected group of experts from the field of science, research, and innovation policy and analysis visited Kiev to review the Ukrainian system of science, technology, and innovation. The first visit will be followed by a second visit in September.

The review will focus on the following areas:

(2) Internationalisation of research and integration of Ukraine into the European Research Area, including advice on how to better enhance the presence of the Ukrainian scientists and SMEs in the European cooperation schemes.

(3) Role of science in Ukrainian innovations development, including advice on how to improve the links between science and business, and the innovation system in Ukraine.

The rapporteur for the Ukrainian RTI review is Klaus Schuch, scientific director of ZSI.

The peer review is carried out under the Horizon 2020 Policy Support Facility (PSF), which aims at improving the design, implementation, and evaluation of R&I policies. The PSF provides best practice, leading expertise, and guidance to Member States and Associated Countries (on a voluntary basis) through a broad range of services to address their specific needs: (1)  Peer Reviews of national R&I systems; (2) Specific support to countries and (3) Mutual learning exercises on specific R&I topics.
