From first project ideas to a successful implementation of projects in intercultural and multidisciplinary teams, the work of researchers and project managers includes a wide range of challenges. KORANET offers a Summer School for young researchers and project managers from Korea and Europe to learn more about all steps of project management processes in international scientific projects.

Course aim

The KORANET Summer School will offer answers to the following questions:

  • Where to get funding?
  • How to prepare successful project proposals?
  • How to manage projects with international research teams?

The main objectives are to provide the participants an insight into:

  • the aims, structure and participation rules of research programmes open for Korean-European research cooperation (and in particular in the 7th European Framework Programme/Horizon 2020);
  • the policy objectives, trends and instruments of international RTDI cooperation;
  • how Project Cycle Management works and how a logical framework can be applied;
  • how a project should be designed;
  • how projects are planned and managed in financial terms;
  • how project proposals are evaluated;
  • project management processes and tools (including stakeholder analysis, relational management, risk and crisis management,
  • project cultures, application of digital/social media, quality assurance, monitoring and controlling etc.);
  • dissemination and capitalisation of results including ethical issues;
  • how to deal with intercultural issues.

Target group

Early stage researchers and research project managers from Korea and Europe (EU-member states or FP7-associated countries), who are well embedded in stable research teams and institutions in their own country and interested in Korean-European research cooperation and willing to develop their ability in managing projects and cooperating within projects funded by the 7th European Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development/Horizon 2020 and other programmes open for Korean-European research cooperation.
