Comune di Scalenghe (Italy)

Scalenghe is a small town of 3500 inhabitants, 40 km away from Turin, in the north west of Italy. Compared to the close municipalities, it has a strong primary sector.

An important characteristic of Scalenghe’s lands is the presence of a vast forest area not open to the public where there are a dozen wells, where drinkable water is extracted to serve the city of Turin. There are two main aspects of Scalenghe municipality that heavily influence its environmental and energetic strategy. On the one hand, there is a strong potential in producing biomass as a source of energy. On the other hand, half of the energy demand of our municipality is linked to the water wells infrastructure.
