for the design, development and implementation of research activities in education

Acronym: EA

Ellinogermaniki Agogi (EA) is an educational private law organisation, officially recognised by the state. It is an institutional member of EDEN (European Distance Education Network), of STEDE (Science Teacher Education Development in Europe) and of ECSITE (European Network of Science Centres and Museums). In 1998, the organisation established a department devoted to Research and Development (R&D), for the design, development and implementation of research activities in education, expanding the collaboration with Universities and Research Institutions across Europe. The R&D Department acts as an interface between educational research, technological innovation and the school community. The work of the R&D Department, currently employing 15 full-time researchers focuses among others on the development of methodologies and empirical research to investigate processes of learning and knowledge acquisition in various subject-matter areas (environmental protection, sciences, history, etc), and on the design of cutting-edge educational material. The emphasis of EA is to effectively connect formal education to nonformal education and to enhance teacher creativity, supporting staff through targeted professional development and opportunities. Over the last few years the R&D department has coordinated and supported the participation of EA in more than 100 European (eContentPlus, ICT-PSP, SiS in FP7 and FP6, IST in FP5 and ACT in FP6, LLP-ACT, Natural Europe, Agro-Web, Socrates, Leonardo da Vinci) and national projects. The main role of the R&D group in most of the projects is the design and implementation of the proposed activities in real school environments.
