The University of Leipzig is the second oldest university in Germany and one of the largest in the country (30,000 students, 5,136 staff members). It covers the full range of academic fields in 14 different faculties and 158 different study programmes. As two of its three strategic research areas the University of Leipzig has research foci in social orders & globalization and sustainable principles for life and health. The University of Leipzig entertains a close collaboration with the University of Graz as part of the ARQUS network. The Institute of Psychology has been founded in 1879 as the first institute of its kind in the world and is often considered to be the founding place of modern scientific psychology.
