Biomedial and genomic research center in Cambridge (Massachusetts)

Acronym: Broad Institute

The Broad Institute is a biomedical and genomic research center located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. The institute is independently governed and supported as a non‐profit research organization. It further partners with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard
University, and the five Harvard teaching hospitals.
The Broad Institute is dedicated to sharing new approaches and discoveries about human biology and disease with the scientific community, collaborators in industry, and more broadly through community partnerships and outreach programs. Our various partners include academic trainees and staff, as well as colleagues from other academic and industrial organizations who work together with Broad researchers toward the shared goal of transforming human health and medicine. In addition, the Broad Institute invites the general public to learn about our discoveries through a variety of outreach activities, public programs, educational resources, and events.
The Broad Institute Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) is a consolidated office for sponsored research; the administrative hub for proposal development, pre‐ and post‐award management and compliance. The OSR group serves as the frontline interface with external sponsors, collaborators, faculty, scientists and all Broad groups on matters related to funded research. The OSR at the Broad manages (in 2014) more than $200M in research funding, about $100M is NIH within 41 awards.
