Acronym: INSB

INSB develops research, development and innovation activities (fundamental and applied research) in the domain of life sciences focusing on further advancing knowledge regarding the basic processes of the life, the organisms’ development in specific environmental conditions, the biodiversity and preservation of the geno-fund. The assessment of biodiversity status, conservation of biodiversity, the study of inter-relations between environment risk factors and biodiversity markers, plants biology, water and soil ecology and methods of phytoremediation and biological pest control are included in the institute’s areas of interest. In the last years bioinformatics and bioanalysis are ones of the main research directions within institute’s R&D activity. The institute has experience in promoting excellent quality research and development activities, advanced education and technology transfer toward various stakeholders, ensuring competitiveness in the field of Life Sciences. Experience acquired during implementation of various national cooperation projects and international cooperation and networking projects (FP5- Ecochange; FP6, FP7) as long as human and material resources to be committed to the DANCERS project (see www.dbioro.eu for research infrastructure) are the basis for INSB participation in the present project.
