The bioeconomy aims to replace fossil resources with renewable resources (biomass) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It originated in biotechnology. A sustainable bioeconomy emphasises resource efficiency and sufficiency to address societal challenges and mitigate climate change. The EU and its Member States are promoting the transition to a sustainable bioeconomy. ZSI supports these efforts by coordinating, designing and implementing communication and engagement activities in EU projects focusing on bioeconomy.
