The circular economy aims to reduce the use of resources, waste production, emissions and energy consumption. This is achieved by slowing down, minimising and closing energy and material cycles. This can be achieved through durable construction, maintenance, repair, reuse, remanufacturing, refurbishing and recycling. Many of our environmental projects promote the spread of a circular economy; for example in the water sector, in which changes in attitudes, practices and institutionalised structures are stimulated through various participation processes in different European regions to develop and implement successful strategies to promote new forms of governance and socio-technical changes to make the water sector circular.
