Climate change mitigation and climate adaptation are among the greatest challenges facing our society. Climate change mitigation includes measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to limit global warming and minimise the negative effects of climate change. Climate change adaptation, on the other hand, refers to strategies and measures aimed at strengthening the resilience of societies, ecosystems and infrastructures to the unavoidable consequences of the climate crisis. Both are key objectives of European and national funding programmes. ZSI directly or indirectly supports climate change mitigation and adaptation in many projects, both at European and national level (e.g. in the ACRP).
