Pro-environmental action and social resilience in Central and Eastern Europe – how to move on?
The Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI) in Vienna has been actively involved in the ACCTING project, focusing on how pro-environmental initiatives across Europe – rooted in grassroots protests, funded projects, or cultural heritage – can contribute to a more inclusive European Green Deal.
Over the past three years, we’ve worked on understanding the role of vulnerable groups in environmental action, with a special eye on initiatives that grow from local needs and lived realities. Now, we would like to share our findings and explore future steps towards a durable knowledge alliance.
We invite you to a meeting on 30 May 2025, 12:00 CET to:
Share findings from 11 pro-environmental initiatives that show how marginalised groups overcome barriers in sustainability work
Discuss the building blocks of a knowledge alliance that puts social resilience at the centre of the EU sustainability discourse, especially in Central, South and Eastern Europe
Reflect together on a possible partnership in Horizon Europe or other fitting funding programmes.
Language: English Format: Zoom meeting, you’re welcome to just listen, but we especially invite contributions during the open discussion.
The meeting is open to active citizens, local movements, administrations, NGOs, and researchers involved in sustainability, inclusive environmental action, and community resilience. No prior topic-specific knowledge is needed.
Please contact Martin Felix Gajdusek on gajdusek(a)zsi.at or Gábor Szudi in case you are interested to participate!
We’ve both been core contributors from ZSI to ACCTING over the past years and look forward to continuing the conversation.
