Work and employment distribute income, opportunities, and risks in modern societies, and shape social structures at the regional, national, and global levels. Work (including unpaid work) and employment are not merely the result of market-driven value allocation; rather, they are shaped by the interplay of social institutions and actors that navigate expectations, interests, and social values.
At ZSI, we focus on issues related to access to and integration into the labour market, the impact of socio-technological, socio-economic, and socio-ecological changes in labour markets and working practices, as well as ways to ensure good, safe, healthy, and sustainable work.
