ZSI celebrates its anniversary with a change in leadership: Dr. Elisabeth Unterfrauner succeeds Dr. Klaus Schuch

The Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI) in Vienna is about to undergo a significant change in its scientific management: Elisabeth Unterfrauner will take over from Klaus Schuch on 1 July 2025, who has successfully led the ZSI with great expertise, commitment and decisive influence for over two decades.
As a long-standing employee and project manager at the ZSI, Elisabeth Unterfrauner knows the structures and values of the organisation. She has extensive expertise in social science innovation research, studied psychology and subsequently completed an interdisciplinary doctorate at the Alpen-Adria University of Klagenfurt. Elisabeth Unterfrauner brings with her a special ability to combine different scientific perspectives – and thus follows an approach that provides fresh impetus in the context of social transformation and is also decisive for the work of the ZSI.

“Social innovations need spaces in which interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary thinking and collaborative action take place. ZSI is such a space – and I look forward to working with our dedicated team to continue to lead ZSI’s research and impact into the future,” says Elisabeth Unterfrauner.
