During the conference, partners presented key project results, including the mapping of empty dwellings, the methodology and implementation of community engagement processes, governance models and sustainable renovation and financing concepts. Presentations also explored the application of New European Bauhaus principles in rural contexts and highlighted practical examples of participatory rural regeneration.
The second day placed RurALL within the wider European policy context through presentations of the Interreg Danube project Danube4Rural.com and macro-regional rural development coordination activities under the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. Discussions explored future perspectives for rural development and with a roundtable addressing the challenge of depopulation in rural areas and the need for resilient, attractive communities from the perspective of mayors in the Danube Region.
As project partner, ZSI presented the community-engagement process together with Zavod PIP. The conference provided an important opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the RurALL project and to discuss pathways for continued cooperation beyond the project’s conclusion.
