Impact of citizen science

Our leading citizen science experts at ZSI, Stefanie Schürz, Barbara Kieslinger and Teresa Holocher, have just published a new version of the citizen science impact stories. This time the publication focuses on how citizen science efforts create policy and economic impact, on a regional, national and international level. The impact stories showcase what can be achieved when municipalities, ministries, (inter-)national funding bodies, and the private sector invest in citizen science, and how this is beneficial for European societies.

The full publication is accessible here: https://zenodo.org/records/20084379

The publication continues to highlight impact stories collected in the context of the ECS project. The first 12 impact stories highlighted the societal and inclusion aspect of citizen science and serve as examples of how citizen science can create change with and for our society with the aim of achieving a more inclusive and sustainable future. The full publication is available here: https://zenodo.org/records/14899094

Together, both publications give evidence of the manifold substantial effects and changes brought about by citizen engagement in scientific endeavours.
