Health Labs4Value – Innovations for evidence-based, patient-centered healthcare

The transnational project Health Labs4Value (Interreg Central Europe) aims to systematically analyse current challenges in healthcare and, together with patients, healthcare professionals and regional institutions, to develop innovative, practical solutions for everyday use. Since 2023, partner organisations from five Central European regions have been working in so-called Living Labs to test digital innovations and validate them in real-life care settings.

👉Our new Projectvideo provides a concise insight into these co-creation processes – which were largely developed and facilitated by ZSI – and illustrates, through concrete examples, the improvements that have already been achieved through the pilot applications.

In November, the transnational conference Turning Value into Care: Real-Life Lessons from Central Europe took place in Ljubljana as the project’s final event. Experts from healthcare, research, the public sector and MedTech came together to present insights from the pilot phase and to discuss the way forward towards a sustainable network.

Here are some of the key takeaways:

🔹 Co-creation with patients and clinicians leads to better and more user-friendly digital solutions.
🔹 PROMs (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures) and outcome-focused indicators that are truly relevant to people are essential for genuine Value-Based Health Care (VBHC).
🔹 Slovenia is setting an important example with national PROM strategies and a new quality framework.
🔹 Living Labs accelerate transformation by breaking down silos and enabling testing in real-world care settings.
🔹 Hybrid models that combine digital tools with personal support achieve the greatest impact.
