The Research and Technology Report (FTB) is the annual status report on federally funded research, technology and innovation in Austria. It is compiled in accordance with Section 8 of the Federal Research and Innovation Act (FOG) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research (BMFWF) in agreement with the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism (BMWET).
The FTB 2025 provides an overview of the implementation of the RTI Strategy 2030 as well as RTI-relevant sub-strategies and initiatives. Based on current data, it presents Austria’s position in research, technology and innovation policy.
This year’s focus chapter, ‘The role of key technologies for a new industrial and research policy’, describes Austria’s position in the context of current European developments. An essential component of the Research and Technology Report is the annual monitoring of the central research and funding institutions in accordance with Section 8 of the FoFinaG.
In addition to the Research and Technology Report, the FTB fact sheet provides a compact overview on six pages.
The FTB was authored by a team of scholars from WPZ Research, ZSI, Austrian Institute for SME Research, Technopolis and iit (Institut for Innovation and Technology).
