Foresight helps to anticipate and prepare for future societal and economic challenges. By systematically exploring various possible futures, foresight enables decision-makers to use insights about the future to shape today’s decisions. Many countries are adopting this approach to develop long-term strategies that foster resilience and adaptability in the face of existing uncertainties.
We use foresight as both a participatory and political planning tool. Our methods enable various stakeholders to identify the key obstacles and drivers for a desirable future. Foresight has already been successfully applied by ZSI in areas of high societal relevance, such as climate change, energy and bioeconomy.
