Workshop on Scientific Diaspora in EaP countries

26. Jul. 2016

The IncoNet EaP Workshop on "Scientific Diaspora" was held from 30th June-1st July in Vienna.

In this 2,5-days intense workshop, the main focus was on sharing experiences and best practices on the topic of “Scientific Diaspora” in the Eastern Partnership Countries. All in all, 15 participants shared their experiences and concluded on some broad recommendations which will feed into the follow-up project “EaP+”.

The key note was delivered by Gabriela Tejada, a well- known expert in Scientific Diaspora working at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne. She shared her experiences from the cases of Mexico, India and also Moldova. This introductory note was followed by presentations of case studies from the experts from EaP countries. On the second day, a set of recommendations on “How to engage with the Scientific Diaspora” was discussed. These recommendations will be presented within the comparative report, which will be published in autumn 2016.

In addition, in the frame of the upcoming EaP Plus Project funded under Horizon 2020 programme, six dedicated workshops on the topic will be held in each of the Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine).
