International cooperation discussed with European Research Managers

22. Jun. 2016

Danube-INCO.NET, ERA-CAN+, etc. discussed at the EARMA conference

Danube-INCO.NET discussed on strategic networking in Central and Eastern Europe

The EARMA conference takes place on 21-22. June 2016 in Lulea, Sweden. A remote place to discuss about strategic networking in Central and Eastern Europe and to present results from Danube-INCO.NET.

The presentation attached has been held by Danube-INCO.NET coordinator Elke Dall in a dedicated workshop with discussions. It turned out that several institutions expressed high interest to strengthen their networks with the region from the Netherlands, Switzerland or the UK. In turn, colleagues from Slovenia and Poland also shared their experiences during the discussion.

The session was timely after the keynote speach by Prof. Kurt Deketelaere (KU Leuven, Secretary-General LERU) who also highlighted the need to ensure that there is balanced access for all excellent researchers to international funds (e.g. Horizon 2020 or the successor programme) - including those from Central Europe!

EARMA is specifically interested to establish closer contacts with research managers and administraters from Central and Eastern Europe - as they are currently underrepresented e.g. in the attendance of the present conference. The discussion thus should be continued in one of the upcoming events.

ERA-Can+ on cooperation opportunities between Europe and Canada

In parallel, a presentation on funding and collaboration opportunities in science, technology and innovation for European researchers with Canada was held by Isabella Wagner. The results and supporting infrastructure of the ERA-Can+ project were presented and the future of Europe-Canada science relations were discussed. There was great interest from the community of research managers and administrators to enhance international collaboration with Canada and to understand the Canadian funding landscape. The slides used can be downloaded attached to this page.
