This Conference will contribute to a better understanding of the role of Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) in the development of sustainable knowledge-based economies in Central and South East Europe in line with the EU Lisbon Strategy, focussing in particular on the challenge of strengthening the links between science and industry. Based on the input of a wide range of stakeholders, the Conference will give an overview of experience in research and development cooperation between research institutions and industry in Central and South East Europe. Particular attention will be given to successful initiatives and show cases, to be presented by the representatives of JOANNEUM RESEARCH (Austria), Jozef Stefan Institute (Slovenia), and Rudjer Boskovic Institute (Croatia). The insights and personal encounters at the conference will feed into improved S&T strategies and governance structures on regional, national and organisational levels, and will enhance regional cooperation in Central and South East Europe.
