BILAT-UKR*AINA project successfully completed

BILAT-UKR*AINA, coordinated by ZSI, has been successfully completed on 30 June 2015.

The BILAT-UKR*AINA project, coordinated by the Centre for Social Innovation and funded by the European Union’s 7th Framework Programme, has been successfully completed after 34 month duration on 30 June 2015. The project aimed to enhance and promote bilateral cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) between the EU and Ukraine.

Through its diverse activities, BILAT-UKR*AINA:

  • supported the institutional S&T Policy Dialogue between the European Commission, the EU Member States and Ukraine;
  • provided analytical input and operational tailor-made support to the Joint S&T Cooperation Committee and ensured practical follow-up;
  • monitored and analysed the STI cooperation between EU and Ukraine;
  • transferred best practice concepts and know-how on funding programmes, technology transfer, innovation support measures etc.;
  • supported the association process of Ukraine to HORIZON 2020 programme though analytical inputs;
  • supported the establishment of the Ukrainian NCP network and training of NCPs;
  • promoted the Ukrainian participation in HORIZON 2020;
  • provided training for researchers, organised targeted events webinars, in-house trainings, workshops, a summer school and HORIZON 2020 promotion events;
  • facilitated implementation of the joint EU-Ukraine STI Roadmap through pilot activities (i.e. established of the Ukrainian National Technology Platform for Advanced Materials – UNTPAM) and identified mutual research topics in the fileds of Nanotechnologies and Biotechnologies to further support the road-mapping process between EU and Ukraine and
  • reached relevant policy-level institutions, funding bodies, NCPs, researchers, research managers/institutions, research-oriented SMEs and industry, other relevant EU projects and the public at large.

The project activities were implemented by a project consortium consisting of nine renowned institutions from EU Member States and Ukraine coordinated by the Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI).
