New project: Building of networks of Latin American and European research groups in social sciences

6. Mar. 2008

The FP7 project EULAKS („Connecting Socio-Economic Research on the Dynamics of the Knowledge Society in the European Union and Latin American and Caribbean Countries") aims at supporting networks and partnerships between Latin American and European researchers und research institutions in social sciences.

---
A special focus of the project is the fostering of the importance of the social sciences in the policy dialog between Latin America and Europe, as well as the further promotion of the EU-LAC Knowledge Area.
For the fulfilment of these goals, strategic studies of the research capacities in social sciences in both regions will be carried out, and one conference and several workshops in Latin America and Europe will be organised. Mexico will be the setting for a summer school.
The ZSI is the scientific coordinator of one consortium, in which six high-profile socio-scientific research institutions of both regions are co-ordinated by the ZSI: L'Institut de Recherche pour le Développement - IRD (France); Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales, Sede México - FLACSO (Mexico); Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento - UNGS (Argentina); London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE (UK); Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana - UAM (Mexico); Universidad de la República - UdelaR (Uruguay)
