New Publication: Research and Development in South East Europe

20. Jun. 2006

The Austrian „Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Forschung“ (GFF) published a book on „Research and Development in South East Europe“ – based on a collaborative research project between the Austrian Research Centers systems research GmbH, the Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI) and the Institute of Economic Geography and GIScience of the University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna.
The research project pursued the objectives to identify strengths and weaknesses in the R&D structure of national innovation systems in South East Europe (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia including Kosovo and Romania) and to link the information to the Austrian innovation system and its current activities towards the region.
The publication shall facilitate the strategic orientation and focus for bilateral and multilateral R&D cooperation projects. The analytical framework included the following topics: the input and the output side of the National Innovation Systems, national R&D strategies of the various countries, cooperation with Austrian enterprises and research organisations and Austrian cooperation policy.

The book was supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour.
