The Coimbra Group is an association of long-established European comprehensive, multidisciplinary universities of high international standard committed to creating special academic and cultural ties in order to promote, for the benefits of its members, internationalisation, academic collaboration, excellence in learning and research, and service to society. The Coimbra Group currently has 40 European universities as members and implements 12 working groups along three topics (research, education and outreach).

On February 29 and March 1, the China Competence Centre of the University of Würzburg and the working group on global partnerships organise a conference on the topic "European universities' cooperation with China".

The conference features four panels on 1) developments of EU-China relations, 2) S&T education and science diplomacy, 3) national strategies to deal with Chinese HEIs and 4) Coimbra Group universities’ approaches to cooperating with China.

On panel 3, Philipp Brugner will present ReConnect China's latest results on European universities cooperation with China in digital technologies and discusses the implications of these results for European universities' approaches to research security, research ethics and responsible internationalisation in cooperation with Chinese partners.
