S4D4C’s 1st Global Networking Meeting

EU Science Diplomacy beyond 2020

Date: 12. - 14. December 2018

Section: Research Policy & Development

The S4D4C project (coordinated by ZSI) is pleased to announce our 1st Global Networking Meeting, ‘EU Science Diplomacy beyond 2020’, which will be taking place in Madrid (Spain) on 12-14 December 2018.

European Union foreign policy faces crucial global challenges, some of which have a potential solution in the use of scientific knowledge and networks. In this sense, the S4D4C consortium aims to support current and future EU science diplomacy for the benefit of the Union’s strategic capacities, foreign policy goals and the development of solutions for societal challenges.

The two-day event has the purpose of enabling a variety of stakeholders to discuss suitable future approaches for EU science diplomacy. In detail, the meeting will serve to debate about the state-of-the-art of science diplomacy, current EU and national governance frameworks for science diplomacy, the alignment of EU and Member States’ science diplomacy approaches, and last but not least the training of current and future science diplomats. We expect to bring together science diplomacy stakeholders from all sorts of backgrounds: scientists, diplomats, policy-makers, civil servants, and representatives of scientific organisations.

Registration is now open. You can also find information on the Programme and check out our Speakers’ Corner, which is continuously updated with more details.
