The EU’s Strategy for Research and Innovation (R&I) has three main objectives:
(1) Strengthening the EU’s R&I excellence, attractiveness and economic and industrial competitiveness;
(2) Tackling global societal challenges;
(3) Supporting the EU’s external policies.
In order to achieve these objectives, the EU research and innovation needs to be „Open to the World“ so as to be able to engage with the EU’s international partners. This allows to maintain Europe’s excellence in science & technology, to create new business opportunities and have a leading role in global challenges. This is why the EU R&I Framework Programme Horizon 2020 is open to participation of entities all over the world and the EU is leading the way in several multilateral initiatives to tackle global challenges.
The strategy to communicate and promote the EU’s international cooperation in research & innovation and its „open to the world“ dimension aims at:
- Raising awareness about H2020 globally and of its openness to the world;
- Ensuring global awareness of the EU’s strengths in S&T, its role in international R&I cooperation and the international openness of its initiatives.
ZSI is coordinating two strands of this service request: Activity 1, Creation of communication materials and Activity 3, World-wide media campaign.
