Discussion of the Austrian Research and Technology Report 2021

For two hours today, the Austrian "Research and Technology Report 2021" was discussed in the parliamentary Committee for Research, Innovation and Digitalization. After about 40 minutes of presentation by two of the study authors, namely Dr. Brigitte Ecker (wpz-research) and Dr. Klaus Schuch (ZSI), individual aspects of the report were discussed by the MPs.

The legal basis for the preparation of research and technology reports is found in the Research Organisation Act (FOG), Federal Law Gazette No. 341/1981. By 1 June of each year, a status report on research, technology and innovation in Austria funded from federal funds must be submitted to the National Council pursuant to § 8 (1). At intervals of three years, a comprehensive report on the needs of research, technology and innovation in Austria shall be submitted by the Federal Government to the National Council pursuant to § 8 (2).
