Inco.Net EECA: S&T Policy Mix Peer Review Report to Kazakhstan presented to the President of Kazakhstan on 23 October 2012

During the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev, to Austria, the S&T Policy Mix Peer Review Report to Kazakhstan, which
was carried out by an international expert team for reviewing the S&T Policy Mix in Kazakhstan, was presented by the team leader, Mr. Manfred Horvat, at the
President´s meeting with the representative of the European Commission. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Josef Hochgerner, chairman and scientific director of ZSI, also attended the meeting and announced the joint signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on future collaboration between the Kazakh National Agency for Technological Development and the Centre for Social Innovation.
The S&T Policy Mix Peer Review in Kazakhstan was implemented under the INCO.Net EECA project which was funded by the European Commission (FP7).

- Mr. Jean-Luc Clement, Adviser on research affairs, French Ministry of Higher Education and Research
- Ms. Margit Harjung, Deputy Head of Unit for Research and Technology Funding, Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology
- Ms. Kirsten Kienzler, International Office of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research at DLR
- Mr. Zygmunt Krasiński, Deputy Director of National Contact Point for Research Programmes of the EU in Poland, Polish Academy of Sciences
- Mr. Vardan Sahakyan, Head of Science Policy Department, State Committee of Science of the Republic of Armenia
- Mr. Michael Schlicht, Head of Department for Cooperation with Russia and CIS, German Federal Ministry of Education and Research
The site visits were organised by the Kazakh National Agency for Technological Development as well as InExCB-Kz (the Independent Expert Consulting Board to Promote Scientific Research Activity in Kazakhstan) together with ZSI.
The task of the Peers was to establish a report on the following dimensions reviewed under this exercise:
- human resources in S&T,
- public science base,
- business R&D and innovation, and
- economic and market development.
