A ZSI-led international team sets out to evaluate the international programmes of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). The evaluation is the first of its kind to look explicitly at the international programme portfolio of a major European research council. We consider the programmes‘ appropriateness, effectiveness and efficiency, not least in the light of other bottom-up forms of supporting international cooperation.
