The FCSAI is a Spanish Public Foundation created in March 2000 and depending from the Spanish Minister of Health, Social Services and Equality (MSSSI). The purpose of the Foundation is to manage all international activities for collaborative and support operations, undertaken by Spain in favor of the development of health-care systems and social services in countries with which it holds relations of cooperation. In CAAST-Net Plus, the primary role of FCSAI will be as co-leader of WP3 on Health Societal Challenge alongside MoHEST, Kenya. The Spanish Government, through FCSAI, has shown a strong commitment with the role that research and innovation can have in the fight against poverty. Its cooperation with Sub-Saharan African countries and its international cooperation activities have risen considerably in the recent years. FCSAI has a large experience in cooperation with third countries and in organising local acts for arranging capacity building events by reaching the relevant stakeholders. The main territories which FCSAI have worked in the last years in Africa are: Mozambique, Ethiopia, Egypt, Sudan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea and Morocco.
